If you listen to the podcast affiliated with this blog (You know Geek Out Loud the official blah, blah, blah) then you know that I love Christmas, and I love the Muppets. Well, this Wednesday night on NBC, the gang is back in an all new Christmas special. Lately, there have been a few viral videos showing up on the internet, Jason Segel is working on bringing a new Muppet Movie to the big screen, and now this. I couldn’t be happier.

Greatest Muppet video ever?  You be the judge:

An episode that I had more fun with than I probably should have. Derek from Starkville’s House of El and The Tenth Wonder Podcast AND Skynext joins the show for some talk and laughter about the Muppets. That’s right. An episode promised over seven months ago finally comes to fruition as hilarity and fun like only Kermit and the gang can offer is discussed.

It should be mentioned that immediately after recording the podcast, Derek and I learned of the passing of Kermit Love. Love was a long time friend of Jim Henson. So close were they as kids that Henson named his most famous creation, a felt frog with ping pong ball eyes, after Love. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Love’s family and friends.

The muppets are making a statement online lately. There’s a newly revamped website at www.muppets.com, there’s a movie on the way, and they just happen to be the subject of next week’s Geek Out Loud. Then there’s this:

Before I get into the show description, I apologize that this took so long to get out.  I have 50 different reasons why, but let’s be honest, I wouldn’t accept the excuses so neither should you, the listener have to.  There are some things said that are a little dated.  Like “Merry Christmas”, “Happy New Year”, ”How about that light bulb, what a great invention.” etc.  But hopefully, you’ll enjoy it anyway. 

On this long overdue episode of the podcast, Derek from Starkville’s House of El joins me as we talk about everyone’s favorite villain, Heroes – “Villains,”  Infected villains, and the magnificent Dark Knight trailer.  This is a long one, so grab some left over egg nog, and left over turkey sandwiches and settle in for a long winter’s geek out session.
