It stinks to fail. It really does. However, things fail, people fail, we all fail at some point or another. It’s ok.

The GOL forums failed. That failure is due mostly to me. In recent months, interest in most parts of the forums faded, and that included my interest in the forums. I just didn’t seem to have the time that I had in the beginning to devote to being there and communicating as much as I would have liked. So it was that as people lost interest, spam bots did not. I tried to get myself pumped up to stop some spamming, but things just never got back on track.

So, the decision was made to shut things down and move on.

It’s ok though we have an option. We’re gonna copy what The Big Honkin Show has done so well, we’re starting a Facebook page.

Head over to The Geek Out Loud Facebook Page by clicking here and then click the “Like” button. When we get a few more members, we’ll have a definite URL and such, so that will be cool.

We’re not trying to step on what Toby did when he created the GROUP for Geek Out Loud, we’re just trying to make sure that we have a community where people can feel safe to geek out.

So, I hope everyone understands about the forums, and I hope that you will all join the new facebook page.

Thank you to everyone who was a mod or an admin on the forums and thank you all for participating in that experiment. Don’t forget the shows that were and still are friends of Geek Out Loud and Geek Out Online. Make sure to support them by subscribing to their shows and e-mailing them and letting them know you appreciate their hard work.

Now, what are you still reading this for….GO JOIN!!!!

Just a note to let everyone know. You can preorder your official GOL T-Shirt or hoodie now until December 15th. We are shooting for at least 100 items to be sold, this would be a great help to the site and bolster some things we are wanting to do with the site and podcast down the road a bit.

Pre-orders will last for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks, allow 4 to 6 weeks for the printing and shipping of the shirts. So while you won’t necessarily be able to have them by Christmas, you should be able to fulfill one of your most important resolutions for 2010: SUPPORT GEEK OUT LOUD AND GEEK OUT ONLINE.

Depending on how these official shirts of the the official podcast of Geek Out Online sell, we have ideas for other designs down the road and may even go so far as to open up a full time store for the site where you can order GOL and GOO merch along with Big Honkin Show merch.

For now, let your geek flag fly proudly with an oh-so-cool shirt, hoodie, or both. Just click on the T-shirt tab above to order yours.

We are finally able to get a look at a mock up of the hoodies. They are black with the GOL logo on the front and the “stenciled” logo on the back. They will look suhweet.

In the past week and a half I have been privileged to appear as a guest on a couple of podcasts outside of my usual realm of recording.

First, head over to Views From the Longbox’s website and check out episodes 58 and 58b to catch a discussion between Michael Bailey and myself concerning the Presidency of Lex Luthor. Recorded while watching the election returns, Bailey and I discuss the history, the presidency, and downfall of Luthor in the Superman books.

Then, I had the honor of guest hosting with Jason Spencer, my good friend Superclerk from the Geek Out Loud Forums, on his podcast The Shadowy Flight, a podcast all about Knight Rider. Head to this link to listen to his podcast and subscribe via iTunes.

Thanks to both of those guys for having me on their shows, if you have a show that you’d like me to guest on, just e-mail me and let’s see what we can do.

Sorry, I haven’t posted in a couple of weeks. Regular posting should resume soon. So, as my friend Michael Bailey always says, “More to follow…”

Somehow, I’ve become the kings of plugs for my site over the past few months. In fact, it’s gotten to be a bit of a joke over at theStarkville House of El. So, what happens when I am a guest on other podcasts? I guess I pimp out both myself and their shows.

First, my good buddy Michael Bailey released the second part of a three part discussion we had at DragonCon. You can find that conversation along with the first part at www.viewsfromthelongbox.com. In the first part of the convo we talked about a lot of things. In this part, the plane finally lands and we stick to mostly Superman talk. Go check it out and while you’re there subscribe to Views. It really is a great podcast.

Secondly, I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Jones at DragonCon. (No, not the British singer from the Monkees.) He invited me to come on to his podcast at some point and a couple of weeks ago, I finally had the opportunity to sit down with Dave and Sam and talk all things Clone Wars. So head over to their place on podbean at thevortex.podbean.com. Dave and Sam were great and I had a great time yuckin’ it up about Star Wars with those guys. They are also into all things Dr. Who, so if you’re a fan of the Doctor, you will probably be a fan of these guys. They do a great job. Oh, and just so he’ll know…Dave is a friend of mine now…and I’m happy he is.

So, that’s where I am on the net this week. Now…if I can just figure out a way to will myself onto The Force Cast. We should so make that happen. GEEK OUT ARMY! FORWARD!
