This is a very good publishing posts, I found your site on ask to get a related field and arrived at this. I could not find out to a lot any other information on this piece, so that it was awesome to locate this one. I probably would be returning to take a look at some other articles or blog posts that you have an additional time.

Every time I read things like this, all I can think of is the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons sitting in front of his computer going, "Oh, the fools. They've got it all wrong. Everyone knows that Hourman should be number one."

My top ten? Here we go...

10. The Punisher: Hero? Depends on one's perspective, I suppose, but Frank Castle is defintely a tragic hero in my book. Think about it: what if Bruce Wayne's family had been killed when he was an adult? There are some great stories that have popped up over they years, but mostly, Frank Castle is here because he likes to blow stuff up. And the bad guys always get theirs.

9. Ghost Rider: This is a nostalgia vote for me--one of my first comics as a child was a Spider-Man/Ghost Rider team up. Cool design, killer flaming motorcycle.

8.Moon Knight: Can you say "Marvel Knights"? What can I say? Marvel's Batman, with a few more flaws, but cool nonetheless. No superpowers, but always in the thick of things. Much respect.

7.The Hulk: Come on. It's the Hulk, man. He's smacked Superman around. He smashed Black Bolt, Iron Man, Doctor Strange...and just about everyone else. And still did the right thing in the end. That's a hero.

6.The Thing: Aunt Petunia's favorite nephew was my favorite Mego action figure as a kid. I still have him. And Michael Chiklis made him come to life (although he needed more eyebrow), which was a great thing (pardon the pun) for my inner kid. Always does the right thing, loyal and fearless. Hero defined.

5.Wolverine: The kind of guy who you wouldn't your mother to know you were friends with, but that you would want to hang with just because a.) he's done everything and been everywhere and b.) he's B-A-D. Who's gonna mess with you when you got a buddy that looks like that? And he's just a great character, no matter how overused he's been.

4. Spiderman: The original stand-alone teen superhero. The greatest eveidence of Stan Lee's genius.

3. Robin (Tim Drake): brought the character of Robin back from a dreadful blahness to being one of the greatest heroes in the DC Universe. He has saved Batman from himself several times, he has stood as a hero in his own right, having suffered as much loss as anyone and still keeps going. One day, DC may eventually make him Batman...I hope not, but if they did, he's the one who could do it justice.

2. Superman: The Anchor. The Big Blue Boy Scout. The Man of Steel. Read Kingdom Come, and see why Superman is where he is, and should have been number 1, really. But this is my list, so number one has to be...

1. Batman. The world's greatest detective. The Dark Knight. Trained to the peak of human perfection, he has turned his own personal tragedy into a crusade to ensure that no one suffers the loss he did as a child. All life is sacred to him--that's why the Joker is still alive. Growing up, a kid can think: "Hey, if I train as hard as him, learn as much as him, and just really work at it, I could do what Batman does. That is, if I had about 10 billion dollars." The best costume, the best hear, the best car, the best plane, the best headquarters, the fear/respect factor. Oh yeah. Number one, baby.
