I am really excited about The Incredible Hulk next Summer. Everything I’ve read and heard has only made the movie seem better and better. This is different from the first Hulk movie. Everytime I got new information about that film, I cringed and said, “I hope they can make it work that way.” On the subject of HULK (the 2003 film), I have to say that I appreciated the effort, I just thought that Ang Lee and the cast and creators tried to make the film TOO seriously. Don’t get me wrong. If you do the Hulk, you have to have the mental issues, the love story, and the action, but you also have to remember that it’s based on a COMIC BOOK!!!! It’s supposed to be FUN!!! Instead, Ang Lee tried to give the audience a psychological commentary on repressed memories and the effects of gamma radiation. As an audience, we didn’t have fun until the Hulk was tearing stuff up in the desert. That was all too short-lived, because when that was over, we thought the movie was over…then…oh, yeah…his dad’s in this too. Even I left scratching my head over that little fight. I don’t want to come off as an idiot, but I wasn’t the only geek who was slightly confused by it.THE INCREDIBLE HULK looks like it’s going to be an entirely different animal. Edward Norton has been taking on writing duties as the cast and crew are filming and the heart of the film seems to be more in line with what we the geek and casual audiences expect out of a Hulk movie.I say all of that to lead into this the good folks over at SuperHeroHype have posted several items complete with pics and videos. They are definitely worth checking out
My favorite part of all of this is the car in the bus. Obviously, we are going to get to see the Hulk tear up New York, The Abomination tear up New York, or The Hulk and Abomination fighting and tearing up New York in the process. The point is, Hulk will smash. But it won’t be random smashing, and it won’t be a gamma poodle, and it won’t be intercut with pictures of moss. I don’t want to overhype myself on this, but the buzz is too good. As always though, we will have to wait and see. Here’s hoping we at least get some kind of teaser around Christmas.
